EXPONENTIAL GROWTH OF FOOD & HOSPITALITY IN THE LAND OF SMILES
Not only does the friendly nature of its inhabitants welcome thousands of people, its potential as a growing hub for food and hospitality attracted about 28,000 visitors to the recent Food Hotel Thailand show. Held in the halls sprawling 18,500 sqm across the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), 341 participants from 26 countries were actively promoting their goods and services,
taking the opportunity to make new connections and catch
up with their peers.
It was one of the most important shows in the Asian region for hotels, restaurants, resorts, foodservice companies, cafés, coffee shops, importers and distributors as proven by the visit of brands such as Air Asia, Bangkok Air Catering,Cathay Pacific, Dean&Deluca, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Hilton, Japan Airline, Le Cordon Bleu, Tesco Lotus, Oishi Group, and many more making their visit to seek out services, food items and equipment. On the industry side, brands like Hobart made its inaugural participation in FHT 2013 after launching its brand in Thailand this year and made FHT its platform to collect feedback and meet targeted customers. Pavilions continued to be popular with Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore and the USA making its presence to bring in greater awareness of its country’s products. As summed up by Mark Anthony Chesner of Regional Vine and Wine Chamber, “TRAKIA” /Bulgaria; “We are working with the EU Project to promoteBulgarian wine in Thailand. We are very pleased with the event. Many professional trade visitors visited our booth and we met many groups of important buyers such as importers, distributors, hotels and restaurants.”
It was not all about product showcase but also a stage for aspirants to test their skills in the Thailand’s 19th International Culinary Cup (TICC), 2nd ASEAN Barista Championship by the Barista Association of Thailand (BAT), Thailand Bartenders Contest, The 9th FBAT International Wine Challenge and First-Ever FBAT Thai Wine Challenge.
There was also the Executive Housekeeper Seminar and Competition, Hotels & Building Chief Engineering’s Club Seminar, Wine Seminars and Dusit Thani College Seminars. Preparation for FHT 2014 is already underway and will be held at BITEC Bangna.
