In line with its projected future, the company is moving towards being a total solution provider by developing its own caramel mix and popping oil as well as flavours. Jay Son emphasised that flavour is now the game changer when it comes to popcorn as people are more open towards new experiences and it is important to know your customers preferences; from the taste factor to how they would like to buy their popcorn. Not forgetting the supplying of corn kernels to concession businesses and with approximately 2,000 tonnes of kernels coming into the country annually, there is definitely a positive outlook to this market segment. According to Jay Son, the kernels can come from various parts of the world according to the season and a good corn is one that expands well and is consistent in size. So far, corn from United States of America is regarded tops due to a technology that greatly reduces the percentage of unpopped seeds and providing better yield. As the Managing Director, Jay Son has expanded the Newvos solution to countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong, with more places on his list.
