RAISING THE LEVELS AT “BATTLE OF THE CHEFS” (BOTC)

For 4 days, visitors were treated to aromas of food, sizzling sounds and visually pleasing sights from the 15th edition of BOTC. Amongst the categories to win was the Penang’s Governor Trophy and trophies from HOCATSU, NESTLE, STAR CRUISES, US POTATOES and CALIFORNIA RAISINS alongside Flair & Mixology, Waiter Race, Ice Carving, Teh Tarik, Char Kway Teow and Bed-Making competitions. The Panel of International Judges comprising 47 World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) Approved Judges from countries around the world awarded 78 Gold Medals, 1 Gold with Distinction ,205 Silver Medals, 465 Bronze Medals and 509 Certificates of Diploma to deserving participants.

Running concurrently with BOTC was the Asia Food Festival 2014 Trade Exhibition with Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority of Malaysia (FAMA), Malaysian Palm Oil Council and other food companies participating. Joining the fore was F&B Facilties, Asahi Kitchen Equipment, Winterhalter, Electrolux, Zip, FatBusta, Flomatic, Samsung, Tecnoinox, TEFAL and Fagor. The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) put on a Military Field Cooking Showcase and BOTC ended with an evening street food extravaganza aptly themed CitraRasa Penang.
