THE FIRST FOOD & HOTEL PENANG SHINES
With the island of Penang hitting top notes in the international tourism scene, the hospitality industry can leverage on the popularity and improve their business operations and network. Hence, the idea to hold a trade show specific to the island where visitors can witness the potential of Penang as FHP aims to establish itself as the platform for industry players to venture into the trade sphere of the Northern Region.
It had full support from the Penang State Government and the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) – Penang Chapter. The introduction of a Hosted Buyer Programme where hosted buyers seek to find new and relevant service suppliers or manufacturers to their company was found to be beneficial as exhibitors managed to connect with decision makers and industry players. It was noted that hosted buyers from AEON Big, Chain Palazzo, Con Ga De Thuong Enterprise, Fair Price, KCG Corporation and Pastry Pro & PP Equipments were successful in engaging 43 exhibitors.
The realisation of FHP included 181 participating companies, with 2 International Group Pavilions from The Republic of Korea and Taiwan ROC. FHP partnered The Wine Academy of Malaysia and The Sommelier Association of Malaysia to run The Wine Village where it purposed to introduce wine culture, featuring brands such as Asiaeuro Wine & Spirits, Fricassee Resources, Maison Andre Goichot and New Zealand Unlimited. In terms of local presence, companies like Chefutensile, Dankoff Coffee Specialist, Imec Hygiene, NKR-Continental, Sonoma Furniture, The Chocolate Effect and Winterhalter participated while international participation came from France, Germany, Poland, Thailand, UAE and USA.
There was also a “Green Hotel Seminar” organised by MAH and Nippon Paint where topics included “Greening Hotels & Resorts”, “Flushing Out Pollutants in Your Hotel”, “Green Material: The Significance” and Green Coating Systems.
