Through functionality and design, technology is playing a more leading role in mise en place and professional hospitality accessories and fixtures. At this year’s Host – International Hospitality Exhibition, long-since the capital of innovation in food equipment, this sector is very much in focus in the dedicated Furnishings & Tableware (Arredo & Tavola) area at the Fieramilano site, between Friday 23 and Tuesday 27 October 2015.
Many of Italy’s and the world’s top players will be presenting their latest products. Sambonet, a long-established Italian design firm, is presenting contemporary interpretations of steel alongside its classics such as cutlery designed by great architect Gio Ponti. Ergonomics and aesthetics are much in evidence in its associate brand Rosenthal’s ceramics. Alessi is also prominent with its vast range designed by leading international designers.
Research continues to provide the inspiration for Kahla, whose Magic Grip technology enhances the functionality of ceramics with built-in silicone bases that are slipresistant while offering protection from scratches plus enhanced hygiene. Tognana’s manufacturing tradition since 1775 today reinterprets not just ceramics but also silverware with decorated steel blades and soft-touch material handles. Since 1946, Bormioli Luigi has been making crystalline blown glass into creations ranging from classical to trendy.
Tradition is strength for Pintinox, which since 1929 has been handing down the art and technology of steel for cutlery, saucepans and tableware. The company is interpreting tradition in a contemporary vein in their lines for catering and hotels (Pinti Inox and Pinti 1929
cutlery), and professional knives and lines for buffets.
Furnishings & Tableware is one of Host’s three macroareas, alongside Professional Catering with Bread-Pasta-Pizza and Ice cream and Pastrymaking with Coffee-Tea and Bar-Coffee Machines. Our concept leverages the affinities between different industries to enhance targeted business opportunities. Seventeen hundred companies attended in 2013 from 48 different countries, along with fifteen hundred profiled international buyers, including especially large delegations from China, Russia and India, generating a total of 38,400 business meetings.
