RISING TO THE OCCASION FOR THE 11th TIME: BAKERY&PASTRY2014

One of the six specialised shows of the biennial Food&HotelAsia exhibition, Bakery&Pastry2014 is set to be the platform for both established and new industry players judging by the 12% growth recorded by Asia-Pacific in global baked goods retail volume sales in 2012. An industry report forecasts the global bakery products market to reach US$447 billion by the year 2017 with Asian consumers becoming increasingly aware and eager to experience the various dimensions that bakeries and patisseries can offer.

With major establishments such as BreadTalk, Carlton Hotel Singapore, Gardenia, JW Marriot Korea, Kinh Do Bakery from Vietnam, Raffles Hotel Singapore and St. Regis Hotel Singapore expressing interest at the previous show, the 2014 edition will see returning prominent brands namely Angel Yeast, DAUB Bakery Machinery, FEMAC Singapore, KBP Multiprocess Machinery, Lesaffre International, RONDO, SiliKoMart, and Sinmag Bakery Equipment. Making its debut would be a group pavilion organised by the Japan Bakery & Confectionery Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (JBCM) while new exhibitors joining the fray include Backaldrin, DLA Naturals, GCB Specialty Chocolates, Guangzhou Hoyo Machinery, Louis Francois, PT. Sinar Meadow, Rhythm and Wieka 2 Plus. Depending on their specialties, the brands will be categorised into four segments which are ingredients, preparation and processing equipment, presentation accessories and display fittings for easy navigation; whether a visitor is looking for specifics or intending to view and learn of the full range of bakery and patisserie offerings.B&P 2

Adding to the buzz of Bakery&Pastry2014 is the Asian Pastry Cup; a competition that draws participation of pastry chefs across Asia. Since its inception in 2006, the stage has seen the region’s top pastry chefs battling to win the hearts of the crowd with their sweet treats while young pastry chefs take the opportunity to hone their craft and learn from the experts. It is also the official competition where participants vie to be part of four Asian teams to compete at the World Pastry Cup in Lyon, France.
