The edition of Host that runs in parallel with the EXPO will confirm that Host is the perfect meeting place for the Ho.Re.Ca. and global retail worlds, especially because of the rich schedule of events, awards and partnerships. Milan and Italy are preparing even harder for the EXPO year. From Friday 23 to Tuesday 27 October 2015 at the Fiera Milano exhibition centre in Rho, Host 2015 is set to become one of the hottest events running in parallel with the World Expo.
The International Hospitality Exhibition will take place just a stone’s throw away from the EXPO, to which it will be directly connected. Given its role as the world’s leading exhibition for the hospitality industry, it is a perfect complement to the event that will turn Milan into the world food capital, running in tandem right up to the grand finale on 31 October.
It is an excellent opportunity for visibility and networking, an aspect that is not lost on the participants. The collaboration with POLI.design – the Milan Polytechnic’s design consortium – is on the cards again, with the second edition of the HOSThinking awards, which are all about innovative formats, and Host Smart Label, which will reward sustainable innovation. The start
date for the submission of candidates was 1 September. During the first edition, 172 applications were received across all product categories, with 35 products receiving awards, including 4 special mentions for particularly innovative products by Alessi, Eversys AG, Lindèn International AB and Unox SpA.
Host’s commitment to industry professionals goes on all year round, especially when it comes to promoting skills and knowledge in the industry. Host 2015 supported the National Architecture Awards for Designer Bars and Restaurants, and sponsored the Milano Espresso Cafeteria Grand Prize that will be awarded in Piazza Città Lombardia on 27 September. Host will also be a partner in the Hospitality Skills – The Art of Welcoming Guests conference to be held on 28 October in Milan. Numerous institutions, large companies and hospitality experts will all be present to discuss the future of the hospitality industry in Italy.
Host 2015 is around 365 days a year, through the Host Smart Catalog, the new online smart search engine available to Host exhibitors and professionals. Host also gets the international limelight with Food Hospitality World, an event run in collaboration with Tuttofood that takes Italian food art and technology directly to some truly interesting markets, such as India, China, Brazil and South Africa.
In the EXPO year, Host is determined to consolidate the record numbers from the 2013 exhibition: 1,700 exhibitors from 48 countries (+6.5% with 350 new entries), including 559 from abroad (+16.5%), and 133 thousand visitors who were industry professionals
(+7% on 2011), including 38.7% from abroad (51,600;+21% compared to 2011) with sizeable increases from the USA (+28%), Russia (+64%), the UAE (+141%), Japan (+24%) and Germany (+14%); 1.500 profiled buyers, with numerous delegations from China, Russia and India; 38.400 business meetings requested using the digital agenda known as the Expo Matching Program.
