top-brewer2Smartphones and java meet in the sleek looking faucet which might be easily mistaken for an ordinary tap. However, Scanomat, the coffee makers from Denmark who launched the world’s first fully automatic Cappucino machine in 1985, is taking coffee brewing and drinking to a more stylish and intuitive experience.

The faucet holds the technology of the brewer that will make coffee, hot chocolate, juice and water at the tap of the user’s smartphone via the Top Brewer application. Using a simple mounting bracket, the faucet is able to fit into any tabletop which makes integrating into any environment a breeze; otherwise users can choose a standalone unit. Its user-directed execution resulted in a fully height adjustable and rotational faucet so that individuals can choose the size of drink desired – from a single shot espresso to a large flask of beverage and customise their drink to precision; for example, amount of coffee and milk.

top-brewer1Water temperature is extremely important as liquid loses heat once it gets poured into a cup. The brewer heats up water from cold to hot in quick succession with the flash heater and maintains it between 92-95°C when it is mixed with coffee grounds. Because the hot water is transported not more than 5cm to the brewer chamber and with electronic maintenance of temperature, water quality throughout themaking of an espresso shot is kept consistent. This means that the brewer does not have to be kept running during periods of inactivity for the sake of keeping water at a prime temperature as Top Brewer is ready to brew in a mere 45 seconds upon start-up and the guest is served with an Espresso within 25 seconds – this is also due to grinders that process coffee beans in 1 second.

top-brewerTo top off a cappuccino or a latte, milk foam is essential and Top Brewer has the world’s smallest milk foamer that can be set to various parameters to meet the demand for foam according to each drink. As cold milk is pumped to the tip, hot steam comes into contact and starts the steaming process and after every drink, the fresh milk lines are flushed to ensure no residue is present. Designed to accommodate various settings; be it cafes, offices or homes means that Top Brewer requires minimalist maintenance requirements as users do not have to be professional baristas. It can be cleaned daily with a 1-minute automatic clean cycle that includes washing the whole machine and rinsing the brewer and milk lines or with a more intensive program should there be heavier usage. Cleaning brushes are provided; also a wet cloth is all it takes to wipe it down.
