This island’s fame of good food makes it a perfect choice to kickstart the inaugural FHP 2014, growing the influence of Food & Hotel Malaysia series – the country’s premier exhibition for the foodservice and hospitality industry.

FHP_02Together with Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd (MES), Malaysian Association of Hotels – Penang Chapter (MAH-P) are working on making the Straits Quay Centre, Penang the place to be come 5-7 November 2014 for industry professionals and visitors to explore ideas from approximately 250 exhibitors from 30 countries showcasing food, drinks, hotels, restaurants & foodservice equipment, supplies, services & related technology. “For the first time, we are proud and pleased to bring the Food & Hotel series up north, to one of Malaysia’s island gems and the ‘Pearl of the Orient’ – Penang. Given its diverse and dynamic food and gastronomic culture, it is certainly fitting that Penang hosts the first Food & Hotel Penang 2014,” said Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of MES.

FHP_03Island and delicious food is one of the most coveted combinations for tourists. Echoing that sentiment, Dato’ Hj Abdul Malik bin Abdul Kassim – State Minister for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs, and Chairman of Penang International Halal Hub said; “Food and beverages represents one of the core components of tourist spend. Needless to say, Penang’s dynamic food culture has contributed tremendously to the growth of the island’s hospitality and tourism industry, which is a vital pillar in its socio-economic development.”

Fronting the pier, the scenic view of the venue is a fresh outlook contrasting the busy city where FHM is usually held, offering visitors an opportunity to make their trip to FHP a more relaxing one. “In addition, it affirms the island as a suitable MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) destination. While Penang is not a stranger to numerous food-related events, FHP 2014 is the first trade-only F&B related event and is also timely, coinciding with the nationwide Visit Malaysia Year 2014, spurring more tourist arrivals into the island,” said Ms Mary Ann Harris
from MAH-P.
