SEVEN YEARS ON – HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONALS CONTINUE MAKE VIETNAM A MUST

The potential is undeniably growing and 2013 took it a notch higher and saw more than 12,000 attendees flocking the 19 group pavilions from 14 countries / regions – a personal record for FHV. The pavilions covered four continents and included those from Europe (Belgium, Bulgaria, European Union, France, and Germany), North America (USA), South America (Argentina) and Asia (Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, Malaysia, and Australia). A notable participant at the EU pavilion was ENOFORUM, one of Portugal’s biggest wine producers looking to expand export to Southeast Asia after identifying it as a strategic geographical location to grow the business, boosting the existing 31 markets ENOFORUM is currently in. According to General Manager, Mr. Delfim Costa, the developing consumer tastes for wine in Vietnam made FHV an ideal platform to get first-hand feedback on the industry’s reaction to their products.

Visitors from all over Vietnam and neighbouring countries came to network, stay abreast with the latest trends as well as stocking up on supplies and equipment. The venue was abuzz with restaurateurs, airline caterers, supermarkets, hotels, service residences to companies such as Domino’s Pizza Vietnam, Duxton Saigon, Big C Supermarket, Cambodia Air Caterer, Paris Baguette Viet Nam, Rex Hotel Saigon, Shop & Go, Yeebo Restaurant, Equatorial Hotel, MOF Japanese Sweets and Coffee, and Vietnam Air Caterers among many others, doing their shopping. A first timer to FHV, restaurant manager of Sherwood Residence, Mr. Nguyen Ta Hoang, was impressed by great options of food service equipment and suppliers, all within one hour of being in the exhibition! Meanwhile, Sunshine Equipment, a local distributor of international food service equipment brands have participated since its early years and the company has grown together with the show with exposure to products from Europe, USA and Asia.

Flair and showmanship were not left out as Vietnam’s cream of the crop baristas brewed up their best cuppa at the 3rd Vietnam Barista Competition (VBC) and got artistic at the 1st Latte Art Competition. FHV also hosted the 5th Vietnam Culinary Challenge (VNCC) where 110 chefs battled it out over 3 days to claim the title of Grand Champion and Best Culinary Establishment for their workplace.

Organised by Singapore Exhibition Services together with VCCI Exhibition Service Co Ltd., the encouraging response to FHV 2013 leads the team to prepare for the next edition in 2015.
