Host2015 lifestyle proposals that raise the quality of hospitality worldwide

The section dedicated to layouts and tableware is growing with debuts and confirmations from trendsetters in the sector, with the added attraction of Futurbar, the concept of the new-generation interactive bar, and a space for Outdoor furniture. EXIHS is back, along with the “aquarium for beauty” and many prestigious awards.

In other words, in a professional hospitality sector that is increasingly oriented towards lifestyles, for all the international trade professionals who want to explore the latest trends, HostMilano is undoubtedly the best place to go. The exhibition where manufacturers have always come to present their cutting-edge proposals, blends of technology and design in its most original forms. Within the framework of a single exhibition, three macro-areas bring together similar industries under the same roof. In the Furniture & Tableware section, solutions for layouts and tableware in all kinds of formats for commercial catering find the perfect context for presentation and business interaction, as part of complete, exclusive plans: from tables and chairs, interior and outdoor furniture, bathrooms, technology, lighting installations and complementary technologies, and then cutlery, table linen, trays, silverware, porcelain, carafes, plates and glasses, arranged on the table in their natural setting.

And, this year, HostMilano offers you an even better opportunity to compare these themes at top international level, thanks to various special projects. The keyword: immersive experience, to discover hybrid formats, concept stores and points of sale geared to the future and enhanced by a new-generation exhibition environment created with the collaboration of architects, designers and art directors of world renown. For a complete, fullimmersion experience where you can not only breathe design but discover ideas as well as products.
After its successful debut at Host 2013, the EXIHS is back with a new format. The result of a design by Dante O. Benini, Leader Partner & Chairman of the Dante O. Benini & Partners Architects Studio – of international fame – EXIHS is a large interactive “box”, where business, relationships and wellness merge to create a convivial, more soothing atmosphere with a greater emphasis on inter-personal relations and self-care, yet still offering plenty of scope for doing business.

An “aquarium for beauty” which interprets top-of-therange contract furniture in innovative, contemporary forms, to provide luxury Italian-made furnishings for large spaces such as shopping centers, airports, hotels, resorts and conference centers, transforming them into outstanding examples of professional hospitality.

EXIHS meets various needs: business and social. It can transform itself into a wellness area and then become a ‘sitting-room of the senses’ or a lounge bar with a magical atmosphere, thanks to special lighting, perfumes and live music. And all enhanced by the unmistakable aura of Italian design, mirroring the traditions of our country, from culture to architecture.

New features this year include Futurbar, a proposal as to what the bar of the future might be like: a combination of technology, design and social intercourse. An interactive bar where soft lights shine from the floor and the walls, changing according to the mood, the counter becomes “liquid” in a continuous series of interesting images and even the tables become surfaces where virtual objects can be “moved” through an entirely natural form of interaction. The innovative layouts will be completed with an area devoted to Outdoor furniture, still top secret at present.

Increasingly, Host Milano – the International Hospitality Exhibition sets the trends with ideas and styles, as well as giving previews of important technological innovations. A role expressed with the return of two prestigious awards resulting from its partnership with POLI.design, a consortium of the Milan Politecnico: HOSThinking, which rewards avant-garde formats for hospitality (there were 180 entries from all over the world in 2013) and Host Smart Label, the quality “label” for innovative, sustainable products and services, awarded at the last exhibition to 35 products out of a total of 172 entries, four of which were given special mention for the distinctive value of their completely new approach.

We are pleased to announce another International Architecture and Design Award for “Designer Bars/Restaurants/ Hotels” which has several new features. The first: our partners – IN/ARCH, Gambero Rosso, Architecture Faculty of the University of Rome Tre, Artribune, Archilovers and Host – Fiera Milano – are joined by the Lombardy Branch of the National Institute of Architecture, which will act as an “antenna” on the quality events being organized for EXPO 2015, and the patronage of ADI – the Association of Industrial Design. The second new feature concerns the competition’s international character, now extended to include projects completed abroad by Italian designers. The third is the fact that the competition has now been extended to include all kinds of hospitality facilities, such as hotels, B&Bs, residences, farm stays and hostels. Furniture & Tableware is a fundamental link in the acrossthe-board strategy of HostMilano. The other two macroareas focus on Food Service Equipment: Bread, Pizza, Pasta; Coffee – Tea with Gelato – Pastry, and Bar – Coffee machines, Vending, for a total exhibition area occupying 14 pavilions (2 more than at the last edition).

Completing the HostMilano offering is a wide-ranging program of events, from training and information sessions to show-cooking demonstrations given by celebrity chefs and exciting competitions and international championships in various specialties, from gelato to chocolate, from pizza to coffee.

In the year of EXPO, there are expected to be approximately 1,900 exhibitors at HostMilano (+10% on the 2013 exhibition) with an interesting range of topnotch companies. There will be 1,500 high-profile buyers: and this year, in addition to representatives of large hotel chains, we have invited the purchasing managers of boutique hotels, charm hotels, design hotels and 7-star hotels, with numerous delegations arriving from China, Russia and India. These professional visitors will meet the exhibitors at approximately 39 thousand business meetings, organized beforehand through the digital Expo Matching Program. At least 133 thousand trade professionals from all over the world are expected to attend, along with hundreds of accredited journalists from the international media.
