With the support from Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, co-hosted with the China Tourist Hotel Association and the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, the HOTELEX Shanghai 2019 organized by UBM Sinoexpo had come to a successful close at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on 4th April, 2019.
The HOTELEX Shanghai 2019 is a leading trade show of the hospitality and catering industry. The exhibit categories included catering equipment, tableware, coffee & tea, food & beverage, bakery, ice cream, wine & spirits, and catering accessories. After 28 years of accumulation and development, the scale of the exhibition and the influence of the industry have reached a world-class level. The HOTELEX Shanghai 2019 covered 230,000 m² exhibiting space with 2,567 domestic and overseas exhibitors from Italy, Spain, the United States, Germany, Japan, and other countries and regions. During the 4-day exhibition, 159,267 visitors including professional buyers, distributors and agents from the hotel and catering industry visited HOTELEX Shanghai 2019, with an increase of 8.88% over the same period of last year. Visitors were from 123 countries and regions around the world, including 7,502 overseas visitors, which is 46.1% more than last year.
7 professional forums and 19 industry events and performances had been held during HOTELEX 2019, focusing on the frontier topics in the hotel and catering industry, delivering trend products and new ideas for the entire industry, as well as discussing new products and business opportunities. Compared to last year’s exhibition, HOTELEX 2019 continued to improve soft power and focused on service. This year, HOTELEX created an attractive exhibition environment that provided an interactive experience for visitors.
The coffee championships series authorized by World Coffee Events has been the eye-catching scenery for a long time at HOTELEX and attracted a huge amount of visitors. The coffee championships including 2019 China Barista Championship, 2019 China Latte Art Championship, 2019 China Cup Tasters Championship, 2019 China Coffee Roasting Championship, and 2019 China Brewers Cup. In addition, other exciting competitions such as 2019 HOTELEX “the Rising Star” Chef Competition, 2019 Shanghai Pizza Master Competition, 2019 World Bread Contest, 2019 China Master Bartender Competition, and 2019 CLW Patisserie Elite Competition also made great contributions on attracting visitors from different sectors. For the purpose of propelling industry development, the show was also dedicated to launching industry forums targeting customized industry solutions, by having experienced speakers share business stories and operation strategies.
The Shanghai Coffee & Foodie Festival, held at the same time in the exhibition, relied on the exhibition platform to create a coffee & gourmet show. It’s an exciting market that had more than 100 specialty cafes and popular street foods, which allowed visitors to enjoy coffee and foods from all over the world in one place.
HOTELEX has always been the indicator of the hospitality industry, constantly pursuing innovation and revolution. To better serving customer and market segmentation, HOTELEX was separated into two phases. Phase I, which focused on catering industry had just finished while Phase II Hotel Plus which highlighted building, interior design, lighting, amenities, fitness & leisure, IT & security was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on 25-27 April, 2019.
