ASIA’S LEADING FOOD & HOSPITALITY TRADESHOW TRIUMPHS ONCE AGAIN

The bi-annual event recorded a 13.2% rise in visitors from its last show in 2011. More than 37,000 visitors made a stop at HOFEX, including those from Australia, China, Macau, Italy, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, USA and many others intending to network. What was most encouraging was the majority of visitors are decision-makers in the field of food & beverage, hotels, import, wholesale and retail. Buyers were also seen browsing the exhibition space of 13 halls, previewing 1,900 exhibiting companies from 48 countries, making up about 10,000 products from all over the world, whether in the food and beverage sector (confectionery, dairy, fine wine, coffee & tea, meat, seafood, vegetables & fruits) or tools of the trade that included foodservice equipment, hotel supplies and hospitality technologies. The first two days were of learning and sharing where over 150 delegates attended the Regional Hotel General Managers’ Forum and Asian Hospitality Technology Education Conference. Sponsored by IBM, the purpose of the conference was to provide delegates insights to the latest hospitality technologies and upcoming challenges.Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Centre was a hive of activity, not only on the exhibition platform but also a stage to display creative flair. The Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (HKICC) continued its streak as a flagship event of HOFEX and this year, 800 top chefs from countries like Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and UK pushed boundaries in flavours, presentation and perception to impress the judges who are leading chefs from all over the world. New this edition was the Live High Tea Set Competition and Live Chocolate Showpiece Competition where art and reason met for attractive displays. To round it up, the Grand Barista Championship and Grand Latte Championship where the fierce competition showed how much growth the java industry is experiencing.

HOFEX remains a must-go for many in the industry, testified by new and experienced visitors alike.
